HOLY ONE In the Old Testament, where God is depicted as the Holy One 50 times, the concept of “holy” is extremely important. Whatever is holy is removed from the ordinary and transferred to the sphere and realm of the sacred. God, being splendid in His essential power and glory, is infinitely “set apart” from His creation. As the Holy One, God Himself becomes the focus of the sacred realm. One example of this is found in the account of the prophet Isaiah whose exalted vision describes God as the Holy One. Here in the passages of the Book of Isaiah, besides being the Creator of all things in the heavens and the earth, God is characterized as both transcendent and immanent, i.e. one who is very much present with us; who can trusted in; and who can and will intervene on our behalf to strengthen us and meet our needs.  Read the few specific passages here below: Isaiah 40: 25-26, 28-31 (NIV)
