Immanuel Matthew 1:23 quotes the Isaiah 7:14 prediction that “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him “Immanuel” (meaning “God with us”). In His coming to earth, Jesus Christ was the promised child, not just to be miraculously conceived, but also to be given a name which in Hebrew means “God with us” in a very unique sense. He was born into our world as an infant and grew up as we do, to be with us in our humanity as fully man, and yet to be at the same time, fully God.
