GOD One of the strongest affirmations of Christ’s deity, i.e. His divine status, qualities and nature, is found in the prologue to John’s Gospel with statements about Jesus’ preexistence as God in eternity past, before the creation of the universe: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God ... Through Him all things were made ... No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God ... has made Him known.” (vv. 1, 3, 18)  God the Father revealed through Christ, God the Son: "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets ... in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by his Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.
