YAHWEH
The name, Yahweh (or Yahweh Elohim occuring 582
times in the Hebrew) is translated LORD (all CAPS) in
the English Bible, and is the personal name of God,
unique among all the names of God. This is a proper
name built on the word for “I AM” and reminds us
each time this name is used that God absolutely IS.
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what
you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me
to you’.” (Exodus 3:14) In this encounter, God
identified Himself as the “Self-Existent One”
who never had a beginning, and will never end.
God simply IS and is all that WAS, eternally.
In the next verse, God also said to Moses,
“Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of
Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my name
forever, the name you shall call me from
generation to generation.” Exodus 3:15

chapter (Exodus) context and account of this first,
miraculous encounter Moses had with Yahweh.
